Transfer costs are the fees and taxes payable when ownership changes. Buyers usually fund most of them; sellers typically fund bond cancellation and compliance certificates unless the OTP says otherwise.
Buyer-side costs
- Transfer duty (SARS) where the price attracts duty
- Conveyancing / transferring attorney fees
- Deeds Office fees
- Bond registration costs if you are financing
Seller-side costs
- Bond cancellation attorney and bank figures
- Compliance certificates (electrical, beetle, gas, fence, plumbing where required)
- Agent commission if you used a mandate
